God Judges Our Words

1/27/2016

Words have specific meanings in the context of language.  But if we do not abide by the proper word meanings, then communication is intentionally being changed to perpetuate a lie.  That is why Jesus said, “I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matthew 12:36-37).

Suppose, for instance, that we use the word “diplomacy,” which means, “the conducting of relationships between nations, as in building up trade, making treaties, etc.”  Our president used that word to describe our recent conversation with Iran.  He agreed to release 150 billion dollars through ten payments to their terror sponsoring government.  Such actions are not diplomacy, but “tribute,” defined, “money paid regularly by one ruler or nation to another as acknowledgement of subjugation, for protection from invasion, etc.”  Our paying tribute to Iran should be seen as an act of “treason”, defined, “ violation of the allegiance owed to one’s sovereign or state, betrayal of one’s country, specifically in the United States (as declared in the constitution), consisting only in levying war against the U.S. or in giving aid and comfort to its enemies.”

Some of our representatives are calling these actions “diplomacy,” when in fact its “tribute” which amounts to “treason.”  God will judge us all for carelessly used words, even the president of the United States of America.
